Regardless you made your choices, and honestly I’d like to see Green team-up with either of these actors. There was also some debate on whether or not to use the brother-sister team. The oldest of the batch here in Eva Green who is 32 years young. Despite not having this knowledge, you guys kept your choices fairly young. The “prototype” for Scarlet Witch, Saoirse Ronan is 19-years old. Would they be younger or older? Well, if Aaron Taylor- Johnson does in fact take the role for THE AVENGERS 2 then they are possibly looking for actors in their late teens/early twenties. I didn’t realize until after the fact that we had never established ages for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. RESULTS FROM PREVIOUS ‘CAST THIS’: Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Jean-Claude Van Damme plays top cop in the Time Enforcement Police Force, which is tasked with preventing criminals from traveling to the past with the intent of altering the future. Let’s get this cast before the year 2004…wait. I still think we can come up with something. Are kitchen splits a requirement? If that’s the case, doesn’t Channing Tatum do the splits? This might be a harder one than I thought. the splits on his kitchen counter to avoid getting zapped is nicely executed. Maybe someone like Dominic Cooper or Jeremy Renner? I’m just throwing ideas out at this point. Timecop's internal logic is typ- ically arbitrary as in most of Hyams'. So would we go for a more well known name actor or someone from the B-list? When TIMECOP came out, JCVD was 34 years old. I mean, it was one of Van Damme’s top grossing films after UNIVERSAL SOLIDER, of course. What kind of person would play Max Walker? Is there even anyone on the same level as JCVD? Okay, maybe I’m starting to catch a case of unrelenting nostalgia. Sure, he is a one of a kind guy, the “Muscles from Brussels” but we can easily make someone else Walker without worrying about our emotional attachment. Time travel hocus-pocus as Van Damme takes on high level corruption, by doing the splits. That said, Jean-Claude Van Damme isn’t irreplaceable in this role. Timecop, again the picture quality is bloody fantastic, 2.4:1 top & bottom black bars. Most movie fans I know would actually say it was a fun time. Its power lies in distilling the essence of Van Dammes talents into one minute of Enya-backed entertainment. Now that TIMECOP is getting a reboot why not cast the role of Max Walker? I wouldn’t say this was a classic by any means, but it wasn’t a crappy movie in my humble opinion. But this means more to Van Damme-ists if were ranking this among the all-time great splits, Id place it ahead of the Timecop fight scene but behind some of the iconic Bloodsport moments, simply because of its more meditative nature. Timecop is not the greatest when it comes to plot-holes.But unlike the recent version of HG Wells Time machine, it is a very fun movie. And one of Van Dammes best.I thought this edition of Cast This would be for fun. Ron Silver is a great Bad Guy here as McComb. He gets to shoot, beat people up,Snarls And looks frankly maniacal at times.Mia Sara is engaging and looks beautiful as ever.Bruce McGill has some funny bits as Van Dammes Boss. The very sexy Gloria Ruben also shows up as Walkers new partner. Timecop benefits from having a talented director Like Peter Hyams behind the wheel for this one.He stages everything well,Keeps the action and plot flowing,Special FX are engaging, and gets a very good performance by Van Damme.Who comes off vulnerable and like a real person. The production values are very good here too.It is also pretty decent political backdrop/Sci-fi combo. In 1994 Time-travel has become a possible reality.Washington decides that it needs to be "policed" from criminal activity and the paradox's of undoing life as we know it.Cut to 2004:Enter Van Damme as Walker the on-the-rocks time-cop who uncovers a plot to swindle the presidency by a corrupt Senator McComb played by Ron Silver, who actually engineered the murder of Walkers-wife(Mia Sara). Can Max stop McComb? Can he go back and save his wife? After some decent gunfights and roundhouses you'll have to find out. ![]() Timecop is probably remembered as his last good movie before he got into a rut of mediocre(though successful) action flicks. Its also the most mainstream picture he was ever in for my money.
